The California’s Wine Country is know worldwide for its incredible wineries featuring some of the best wine in the world as well as incredible and diverse landscapes. The coast is simply breathtaking while the valley has beautiful rolling hills covered with vineyards and the mountains has timeless redwood forests. It is known as a romantic place to have a wedding, celebrate a special anniversary, or just reconnect with a spouse or partner. Thanks to its year round warm weather (no snow in winter!), it makes it a great place to live and visit.
From the towns of Napa, Sonoma, Healdsburg, Santa Rosa to Petaluma, there are incredible restaurants, many started by famous chefs and featured on television. The wine country has also wonderful history and interesting places to visit.
For these reasons and many others not mentioned, the California Wine Country can be an expensive real estate market. We recommend to contact a local agent very familiar with the town you are most interested in. While most people who own a home in the Wine Country actually live and work there, many own a second home or move to the area to retire. It can also be a great real estate investment as the popularity of the region should never diminish with time.
Be patient when purchasing a home in the Wine Country. The real estate inventory is usually low in comparison to other markets in the U.S.A. so it is important that you take your time in selecting the right real estate agent and purchase a home or property that makes sense for you.
There are many communities in the Wine Country to consider. It is important that you clearly define the purpose of your upcoming real estate purchase. A buyer seeking to rent out the property would have different location requirements to a buyer who would want to retire there. This is why we again suggest a realtor who lives and works in the Wine Country.
The types of real estate vary greatly from standard single family homes, small wineries (with home, tasting room, and vineyards), luxurious wine estates to historical Victorian homes. There is something for every taste and budget.
